Canvas Sculpture

My first canvas sculpture was done in the late 1980s when I was going through middle-aged craziness! Inspired by abstract expressionism and modern artists like Frank Stella I wanted to create something memorable – something that would start a conversation! Employing sculptural techniques, I began experimenting with a variety of materials to bring movement and dimension to my canvas art. As my work progressed, I recognized a variety of distinct looks and sorted them into collections. I’m not sure how other artists work, but for me, I find myself lost in the process until it takes on a life of its own. At that point, I watch the creation unfold and enjoy seeing the result! It’s important to stay playful and keep a sense of humor because art happens through me once I tune into that signal.
